Gull-Wing Fan Project

Materials: Recycled Plastic
Year: 2022
The Gull-Wing Fan Project was designed as an open-source project intended for non-profit organisations involved in marine plastic cleanup efforts. The project was developed in response to the Heritage Craft Project by The Worshipful Company Of Fanmakers. Crafted from sheets of pressed marine waste, the project's design draws inspiration from the primary wing feathers of the Herring Gull, a species of seabird severely affected by the plastic pollution in marine ecosystems. The primary aim of the project was to repurpose recovered waste into a marketable product to both address environmental concerns and raise awareness about the vulnerability of marine life to plastic pollution.
